Learning, Earning & Parenting (LEAP)

The Learning, Earning and Parenting Program (LEAP) is a program designed to help youth who are:

  • Under the age of 18, or 18 and in school
  • Receiving assistance through OWF
  • Living with his/her child(ren) or is pregnant, and
  • Has not received a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma. (HSED)

The LEAP program allows a reward for attending school regularly by adding an extra $62 to the family's OWF payment. This extra money is given for each month that the student meets LEAP school attendance requirements.

In addition to the attendance bonus, students are eligible for:

  • A one time enrollment bonus of $100 upon proving that you are enrolled in school,
  • A $100 grade-completion bonus at the end of each school year you successfully complete, and
  • A one time $500 bonus for graduation from high school or receiving an HSED.
